Fireworks detract from the Festival of Lights

The celebration of Diwali is about light triumphing over darkness, not loud noise prevailing over common sense

I am so angry about the loud fireworks that were let off on Diwali Day.

The celebration of Diwali is about light triumphing over darkness, not loud noise prevailing over common sense!
People should limit their use of fireworks to Sparklers, Sky Rockets and Fountains, all of which look lovely and do not make that much noise. My children were so scared and could not sleep because of the hideous racket going on.

Diwali is also about good winning out over evil, but where is the good when our pets are so terrified that they injure themselves trying to jump over fences and get lost in the streets after running away from home?

I believe permits should be acquired before purchasing the ‘big bang’ fireworks. People light the ‘big bombs’ wherever they feel like it and with the winds we have, they could land anywhere and injure someone. Some people just have a ‘don’t care’ attitude with little understanding of the festival they are celebrating. It’s really sad! Not to mention the danger these fireworks pose to young children who light them without any knowledge of what they are doing. Parents beware!
I just hope and pray that we don’t have the same problem at New Year.
