Disgusted at the low cost placed on lives

Dear Madam – After reading the article on the unfortunate death of Jeremy James, I find it sickening that a murderer has been set free on bail set at R2 000.

Is that what a human life is worth? I know that we cannot judge and place guilt on the accused until found guilty, but will there be any form of true justice?

Prasathan Moodley claims self-defence in court, how convenient. But if he was defending himself, why did he assault Jeremy James to such an extent that he was barely recognisable to his family?

To me it sounds as though he is nothing more than a rabid animal that needs to be encaged, not only because of the brutal murder but because he further portrayed the lack of respect so many of our country’s men show for women by beating his own girlfriend.

It is sad when you think how great men like Mandela and Ghandi fought for peace and justice, only for their dreams to be marred by men like the accused.

Where is justice?
