Dear Madam – After reading the article about the police being evicted yet again, I am embarrassed to say I am South African.

The sad thing about this article is that it is not an uncommon thing for those in power to fail the people they were meant to lead. Police are meant to serve and protect, but how can they perform their duties when the Department of Works cannot carry out something as simple as finalising a lease agreement?

Are our leaders so much like little children that they need to be spoon fed everything?

I had friends from overseas visit for a while and they laughed when they saw the article, in fact they joked about a lot of things they have read and seen about South Africa through the media across the globe.

It is because of stories such as this that the government is so hell bent on the privacy bill.
