Madam – As you will recall, this overflowing sewer manhole at Trim Park was reported in September by “Sewer Rat”.

The response from the SED Technical Services on September 13 was that this type of problem was one of the reasons why the municpality took over uThukela Water and that this problem would be solved urgently.

It is unknown whether anything was done but the attached photograph was taken today -November 10 – which seems to indicate that no work was done to rectify the problem.

The stench emanating from this manhole is unbearable.

Is it possible that the cause for this overflow is not as simple as originally thought and may need major upgrading.

SEWER RAT

Response from Mayor:

The sewerage spillage there is being planned as a global infrastructure upgrade in the area.
