Editor – Re: Rita Singh has gone to meet her Maker, but we can all remember the positive influence she had on our lives. (See the article ‘The ‘Lady’ in Ladysmith’ on page 3 of last week’s Gazette).
If you look at a coin or a locket, on the one side the word ‘Happiness’ may be written on it. But you must also look at the obverse side and see what it says.
Most likely, nothing is written there. But believe me, it will be sadness, suffering, misery and gloom.
The world is not only of happiness or only of gloom, it is a combination of both.
Rita, Jay, my wife and I have known each other for many years.
We had our good times socialising, holidaying and also sharing family problems, be they of a happy or sorrowful nature. Rita has been a very popular personality of this town, and also throughout other places in South Africa and overseas.
Did you ever see a gloomy face when you entered her home? Never! You could not leave without her rubbing her exuberant personality on your ‘good self’, making sure you also satisfied your stomach.
Jay, Yuvraj, Upasna, Prathna, spouses and children, and the Singh family at large – you have to say goodbye to Rita forever. We all share your loss and pray to God that one and all will bear it with courage and forbearance. Rita has now gone to her Maker and she will now find a place of heavenly bliss.
The Singh family also wish me to express their heartfelt appreciation to whosoever assisted or visited Rita during her illness. Also to everyone who has sent messages of condolences and helped in whatever way to make their burden lighter.
Your presence here is testimony to the fact that we are all sharing the family’s loss.
