Medical University by far the best story

Madam – The article in the Advertiser of June 6 that a medical university is to be established in Newcastle is by far the best story and will surely impact very favourably on the future of Newcastle.

Many years ago the Municipality negotiated with a university in South Africa to develop an extended campus in Newcastle, but after many hours of discussions and investigations the idea was abandoned because of specific logistical reasons.

Now, there is a positive chance that apart from being an important industrial centre, Newcastle will also in future be an academic centre with all the benefits they will bring to Newcastle.

The Association wishes to convey to the Municipality its appreciation and congratulations for the initiative and work done to bring this development to Newcastle.
