Where have all the trees gone?

Madam – Where are all our trees gone?

I do not profess to be one of “The Green’s” but yet I cannot help wondering if we are not cutting down trees faster than they will ever grow again. We all agree that development is necessary but there should be a well considered balance of what we do need now and what we should keep for the future.

We should make it a rule that for every tree we cut down two more must be planted just to make sure that our grandchildren, as I would like to assume, might also enjoy engraving their initials into a tree’s bark.

That is, of course, provided there is a tree left for them. And that is our duty to ensure.
