Madam – SOLIDARITY FOR HUMANITY
I refer to your letter from Lourens dated 22 Aug.
It is disheartening to see that the sufferings and brutality and loss of lives that ensue from war become a political issue. The march was staged to protest against inhumane war practices that resulted in the loss of thousands of innocent lives; it was neither a’ white commemoration’ nor a ‘people of colour thing’.
Although you stated that you do not condone these acts, on the opposing end you go on to justify the killing of innocents. Your current analysis of the situation in Palestine is left wanting, let statistics and proven facts be the basis of your assessment….. to justify your lack of support by bringing up the past injusices against the Afrikaners (which has its own lengthy history) only further tries to justify the stance you have chosen.
Yes, you do have freedom of association, however we, the protesters choose to associate with the truth; we do not choose race, colour or religion in the face of war….. we choose HUMANITY and we stand in SOLIDARITY against inhumane war practices and loss of innocent lives.
