Resolute against resolutions

I hope those who do make resolutions do so with a healthy attitude and are very successful with their choices!

Madam – I do not believe in New Year’s resolutions purely because change should not be determined as part of a ‘new year ritual’.

I think all human beings have the ability to make the changes they desperately need to, and they don’t need a time frame to do this. Need to lose those extra kilos? Start today, and do not wait for the new year to resolve to do it!

We put off what we don’t want to do because we don’t believe we have the strength to make a change unless the circumstances are exceptional, like the start of a new year. We don’t take into account that change does not happen overnight and can start with even one small step or a small adjustment in the right direction.

So this year, instead of making meaningless ‘resolutions,’ I resolve to make none at all and just live my life each day by making small changes that will benefit me in the long run. I hope those who do make resolutions do so with a healthy attitude and are very successful with their choices!
