Litter, the beloved country

The Coronation Park saga continues to amuse and annoy.

Sir
I hate to sound negative (but I am going to) but our beloved town is looking decidedly tired and scruffy. I include Glencoe in this description and as far as Wasbank goes, that is just tragic.
Our central business district is plastered with safe abortion stickers (what a pity that no one used Mandela Day to get rid of these infernal posters) and litter fills every gutter and corner.
The pavements are broken up and the roads terrible – especially Gladstone Street – between the traffic circle and the Victoria Street intersection.
The taxi rank area is a no-go area especially over weekends with people and vehicles crossing the road at will.
Litter fills the pavements and I shudder to think what tourists think when they have to pass that way on their way to Talana Museum – this should be renamed the litter route.
What we need is a commitment to community pride and not wait for the municipality to clean-up.
I mean, there is so much in-fighting there it is a wonder that the lights stay on (hang on, they don’t – the lights do go off but that’s a whole other story).
The Coronation Park saga continues to amuse and annoy.
Huge concrete bins have been installed in the park but the long weekend has seen the return of the party people and guess what?
Yes, the liquor bottles were dumped next to the nice, new rubbish bins.
Why can’t people just learn to act normal?
But there is no policing of this kind of thing and in South Africa right now it is every person for themselves.
Greed and jealousy rule.
