Dogs, man’s best friend

I must admit that I shed a tear after reading last week's Newcastle Advertiser's front page story, Spike finds his forever home.

Dear madam,

I must admit that I shed a tear after reading last week’s Newcastle Advertiser’s front page story, Spike finds his forever home.

I had followed Spike’s story since the get-go and was horrified about the way his so-called family had abandoned him.

My dogs are such a huge part of my life and family and I could never imagine leaving them behind. How Spike’s family could do that, is beyond my imagination.

Dogs are such selfless animals and I am sure with Richard and Di Kohly, Spike’s love will be returned in tenfold.

I am sure the Kohlys will be rewarded for the love that they have bestowed upon Spike, and I hope his previous family will never experience the sense of abandonment they so carelessly had forced on him.

A big pat on the back must also be given to journalist, Nicole Collett, who worked on the story.

Through your work, Spike has a new family and a brighter future. Keep up the good work.
