Sir,
On September 24, a resident of Glencoe, fondly known as Bobby Moodley of 10 Dahlia Road, sadly passed away.
Unfortunately he was still awaiting answers as to when he was going to receive his title deeds. He was one of the first residents to move into the 49 houses in Glencoe.
Sadly the Municipality has no mercy for the residents in Glencoe and something, that has been in the pipeline for years on end, has still not yet materialised.
How many more lives are to go in Glencoe before the promises made to the residents are kept?
Mr Moodley spent his days trying to assist the community with the so-called housing forms.
He spent his time doing what he expected would some day soon materialise – the title deeds that he had long awaited.
Unfortunately his hard work seems to have gone in vain as he is no longer with us.
He closed his eyes with his dream unfulfilled and now his wife and children are left behind to continue with the battle left unfinished, or as you can say, unsolved by Mr Moodley.
How much longer are we expected to wait for answers from the Municipality and Councillors?
As residents of Glencoe should we also start marching to the Municipality and create a riot as people do in many other towns before we can get any answers?
We would also like to clarify a statement that has been made by the ANC that the 49 houses are no longer going to be given to the people and should they require their title deeds they will now have to pay for the houses.
We appeal to the respective people in charge of the above matter to take the time out of their busy schedules to give this matter urgent attention.
Jessica Sooknanan and Yasmin Sukhai
