Bonginkosi I Ntuli, Executive Secretary, Mondlo Community Police Forum, writes:-

I UNDERSTAND that we are free and have the right to say and do what we want in our country, but we cannot undermine our society.

I was once the victim of a crime at my school. Most of the learners who are involved in crime are those who work hand in glove with criminals who are not learners. Learners who are friends with criminals look for other learners who carry valuable goods such as cellphones, then they inform the criminals, and these learners are robbed on their way home.

This is not the way to do things. By doing so we are destroying our democracy.

We will be saying “Stop Crime” on radio, TV and in the newspapers, but criminals don’t listen to or watch radio and TV, but steal them and sell them. If we see someone stealing we must pick up the phone and dial 034 933 6200. Let’s stop talking and act because actions are better than words.

I would like to congratulate the Mondlo SAPS for creating a programme of Sector Policing.

I also give thanks to the people of the Hlahlindela Traditional Council, Mondlo Taxi Association and AbaQulusi Municipality Office of the Mayor, who volunteer to help prevent crime in our Mondlo community.

Together we must do more to fight crime. We must stop buying stolen goods.
