Customers advised to be alert at the till

In this day and age when money is tight, we all need every cent we can save

Through the medium of your newspaper, I would like to add my comments to the article – ‘Customer overcharged – scrutinise your till slip’ (Estcourt News, January 22, page 3).

This has happened to me too on more than one occasion at at least three major retailers in Estcourt.

When you query with the cashier, most of the times you are given a blank stare before the manager is called or someone is sent to examine the price on the shelf.

Most of the times, the customer is left feeling like you have done something wrong, because in my experience, the managers show arrogance and irritability when they are questioned and taken up on their business practice.

So, in the end it is up to us the consumer, to ensure that we are not overcharged and don’t hesitate to bring it to the store manager’s attention. Be alert when your items are being scanned at the till.

In this day and age when money is tight, we all need every cent we can save.
