Editor – I am a resident of Beacon Street and as a mother, I have to stress my concern.
There are children who walk to and from school, and to the shop, and it is a residential area. Still, there are some people who do not respect others or themselves. There are a few motorists who use this road as a race track.
These people do not realise how dangerous it is to drive like this. It takes one second to lose control and end up causing someone’s death. These drivers start at the stop street and race down the entire road. I am very worried about it! If they just drive with caution, it could save them and others lots of heartache.
I would like to make an appeal to Public Safety for speed humps to be put up in this road. As the road is rather straight and quite big, I can understand that these people would find it pleasant to race on, but it is very dangerous and they might think they can see ahead, but a car could easily drive out from Scouts or one of the other roads. Speed humps could potentially save the lives of not just the drivers, but children and animals.
I cannot stress my concern for their lives enough.
