Take pride in our town and do something positive

But really let's take a little bit of pride in ourselves and our town and do something positive about cleaning the town

No, no Estcourt citizens what are we doing?

This is like a State of the Nation speech, but it is a State of the Town. Really, I hear what you are saying that you were promised permanent jobs or employment if you voted for so and so. But have you not learnt yet – that the politicians are just like the wind it blows here and it blows there but the only thing that comes from it is either hot wind or cold weather.

When are you going to learn and stop this? Surely it shows no respect for yourselves and for others in making the town look like it has since Thursday, September 8. And this ‘night crew’ that they have that are SUPPOSED to clean town – where is town for them? When last did anybody WALK across the railway bridge and see the rubbish that is being dumped there?

I am not even talking about the rubbish that was taken out of the gutters in most places in town and around the post office and the flats near Spar and then it just gets left on the pavement. Are we really going back to the times that people just left their dirt in the place at which they are standing?

I have seen a person stand next to a rubbish bin – before you all started to break them and tip them over – and drop his/her rubbish next to the bin in the street. And on the occasion that I was walking and picked it up and managed to catch up to the person and say: “I think you left this behind” many have been shamefaced enough to say ‘sorry’. But I am sure that they just went round the corner – checked that I was not watching – and dropped it again.
Come on citizens of Estcourt let’s get ourselves to ourselves and start cleaning up the town and then maybe we can start on the potholes and so move on to something else.

But really let’s take a little bit of pride in ourselves and our town and do something positive about cleaning the town. Not just dancing in the streets and leaving all the rubbish and other stuff around for somebody else to sort out.
