LETTER: Ashamed of our national leadership

Fighting, shouting over each other, swearing, giggling when the violence happened - what a disgrace!

Madam – Last week I watched the State of the Nation Address with a sense of horror.

I felt like a rubbernecker at the scene of a horrific crash that was documented for the whole world to see and laugh at.

As a South African, the behaviour I witnessed from our so-called leaders made me cringe. I was embarrassed for our country. What must the world think of us?

Fighting, shouting over each other, swearing, giggling when the violence happened – what a disgrace!

How can we trust these people to make decisions for this country when they can’t even engage in civilised debate?

Why do we keep blindly electing these people to lead us? I would hope my fellow South Africans put aside their grudges of the past and actually vote for an efficient, competent and educated individual to lead us.

Why does it always have to be that whoever bribes the most, leads the most?
