Wow!
Finally looks like Estcourt is getting a private hospital. When notices get published with ERF number such and such, we, the public haven’t got the foggiest idea where on earth they are planning to build.
So, a simple message to Les Jacobs and in no time I received the plan pictured. Thank you so much Les for your assistance. So, on looking at this plan, I recognise one street but none other.
I have been told many times, by my son, that Google is your best friend. Here goes… I Googled the road names and no results. My next option, I remembered Les telling me that Mr Gericke has more details. So another message went out.
Now I have the exact location. Do you know that area that they sighted for a retirement centre, in the area of the state vet… our new hospital will be exactly there, if all goes well.
So, citizens of Estcourt I hope I have helped you better understand your surroundings. I know I surely didn’t know where ERF 7777 was, let alone those marked roads, except for Jannie de Waal. I was also told that the roads were already named and marked out for development that never took place.
I truly hope our Mayor and her team will now make an effort to clean ALL Estcourt areas up. Sewerage leaks, water leaks, refuse, pavements and gutters, all need serious attention. Trees and grass needs cutting. Weeds need killing. Roads need serious repairs.
All well and good to build hospitals but we need a clean and hygienic environment. Please bring back the HEALTH DEPARTMENT. Mayor, you have so many departments at your disposal (unlike many years ago), so really, you should cope well.
Just a call to UTHUKELA for sewerage and water. OR maybe a call to WATER WORKS DEPARTMENT, they are in town now. A call to the ROADS DEPARTMENT to resurface our roads as private contractors haven’t done a good job for the EXCELLENT MONEY they were paid from our rates and taxes.
A call to the REFUSE department. MC MAJOLA is superb. She is a fine example. Thank you Majola for attending to collection spontaneously. You are a STAR. A call to the GARDEN department to deal with your trees and grass.
Now, I know we have MANY individual departments and so many staff to work, so plan a weekly schedule and put them to work. Keep a supervisor on sight everywhere to ensure the job is done properly. Unlike the pothole repairs in Connor Street, you sent a team to attend to on February 15, then a week later those potholes are ALL open again.
That is called WASTING OF OUR MONEY! Estcourt is situated in a good place between the sea, the ‘Berg and Johannesburg. The tourism board wants to promote our area but at this present moment, Estcourt is a sheer embarrassment.
We don’t want family coming let alone tourists. Estcourt and surrounding areas have a lot of history, of which means nothing to some. But we all have to look beyond our noses.
We need to generate funds for Estcourt. Tourism will do that for us. It will keep our rates and taxes and utility bills to the minimum if we bring in funds. No funds, we pay more. So please, let us all work together.
Stop blaming one another and let us move forward for our future and the future of the generations to come.
Let us all ensure, the people voted in, WORK for us.
