LETTER: Newcastle can stand up for CANSA

Surely, we as a society can do more, because it could so easily be us who need the help?

Madam – Suggestion for CANSA Newcastle.

I do sincerely have concern for the sick and aged. Aging is going to happen to all of us, but a sickness like cancer is fated to happen. We have no control, but can fight it.

Reading last week that CANSA NN is closed, really touched my heart. Surely, we as a society can do more, because it could so easily be us who need the help?

In 2015 at the Balele Biker Rally in Utrecht, I raised R5000 for CANSA NN, just from donations from bikers, so I do know that people care. (Even the ‘apparent’ rough and tough bikers).

My suggestion comes from me now being a member of Breadline Africa. Every month, from my bank account, only R130 is taken out to feed hungry children in Africa.

SO, why can CANSA NN not try something similar? I am sure Newcastle people will readily sign up for a regular debit from their account.

It just needs to be done professionally with a possible complimentary stall at Newcastle Mall, and volunteer workers getting the donors.

Also, the Advertiser printing a possible phone number, and email address and banking details.

Or what about a WhatsApp message appeal? Possibilities are quite a few. Do not give up CANSA NN!

I personally am willing to donate like I’m sure most of us are.

Organise! Thank you.
