I would just like to say to the people of Masonite a very sarcastic ‘I TOLD YOU SO.’
434 people fired – and what has that helped you? Nothing and the worst of it is that it is probably a very strong possibility that Masonite/Evowood is now going to close down completely.
READ THE STORY HERE: Evowood dismisses 434 workers at Estcourt mill
And you know the worst of this matter is that it is not just the 434 who are affected, most of them are people who have wives and children and extended families.
I have a friend who stays in Wembezi and she has her sister who stays with her and her nephew from one of the other sister’s who has passed away. Now just doing a quick count, it is six people in one household and it could be more.
It also always ceases to amaze me that the union leaders say “strike” and everybody goes on strike but do they come to the fore with aid like food and rent, etc? No, I do not think so. I seldom watch the news on TV in this day and age but I have heard and seen the way some of the union leaders dress and the cars that they are driving, but the members are starving.
Wake up people and see what these people are doing to you. Times ago, the people were very fond of saying – oh, so-and-so is a government puppet – but I want to tell you now, you are the puppets on the strings of the union leaders.
The worst of this matter is that it will affect Estcourt in such a bad way. Where are you going to find other jobs? As it is people are starting to break into houses and steal and cause damage. More people are going to move out of town and then it is just going to be a few of us who cannot afford to move or who do not want to move that will remain here.
I would also like to mention to Ms/Mr Briedenhann that he needs to page a little further in the Bible and get to 2 Chronicles 7 verses 13, 14 and 15 and see what it says there – “If MY PEOPLE…..”
My people are the children of God and if we start praying for the town and the people and the government then He will hear from Heaven…. But a final request to the people is we back in 1992 – 1994 when the world here in South Africa was turned upside down?
