Sir
The Congress of the People is not surprised, nor shocked, by the Cabinet reshuffle.
We firmly believe that the Cabinet reshuffle announced by Mr Jacob Zuma is just a smokescreen to cover up the main destructive intention. All of us know that Zuma’s targets were Minister of Finance Pravin Gordhan and his deputy Mcebisi Jonas. The Treasury is now firmly captured by the Gupta family. In our view this was not a genuine and honest Cabinet reshuffle based on performance evaluation; if it was, then ministers such as Bathabile Dlamini, Des Van Rooyen, Faith Muthambi and Mosebenzi Zwane would have been kicked out as well because their performances have been mediocre and dismal. Zuma, how do you justify the sacking of a competent minister like Derek Hanekom and keep the incompetent Bathabile Dlamini? How could Zuma keep Faith Muthambi, when the National Assembly to which Zuma is accountable to, recommended that action be taken against her for the SABC fiasco. We are saying the removal of Pravin Gordhan and Mcebisi Jonas will have very serious and negative consequences to the economy of the country. COPE once again calls upon all ministers and deputy ministers to reject Zuma’s reshuffle and resign in solidarity with all those who were affected by this destructive Gupta inspired reshuffle.
Now is the time for all South Africans to rise up and defend the institutions of state and the economy for the sake of the well-being of our future generations.
Let’s unite to stage a massive push back against forces of destruction.
