Sir
I read with interest your lead article in last weeks Courier regarding the reinstatement of TP Biyela as Municipal Manager.
Firstly, I should say that I hold no political affiliation but I am a local resident and ratepayer who cares about our area. So, though I understand and cautiously applaud the pragmatic position of the current majority council, regarding the fiscal issues, I cannot understand or support the position of the ANC opposition councillors who seem hell bent on petulantly disrupting proceedings whilst making inflammatory statements such as, ‘they will make sure that Endumeni Council is not functioning until COGTA intervenes”!
Sadly this has the whiff of both of the opposition ANC councillors being extremely bad, vindictive losers AND of them being not the slightest bit interested in the local population and rather pursuing their selfish political objectives. This child-like attitude can only result in one loser; the local population and in particular, yet again, the poorest will suffer most. ANC councillors, you lost control in a fair and democratic election.
Please just get over it and try working together for the interest of Endumeni’s residents. Who knows, if you do return to power, maybe the opposition parties will reciprocate and not disrupt your tenure for spurious reasons. The bottom line is: the people of Endumeni who voted for both you and for the opposition parties deserve the best service delivery possible.
Not to be used as pawns in selfish political aspirations.
