During their weekly discourse, members of the Estcourt Senior Citizens Club are given valuable talks on health-related issues by Mrs S Nandan who is the Chairperson and a former nurse as well as the club’s Public Relations Officer Mrs RD Peerbhay who is well-known in Estcourt for her voluntary services in various organisations.

On April 19, Mrs Peerbhay spoke on World Health Day, which was commemorated on April 7 and Parkinson’s Disease on April 11.

On previous occasions, Mrs Peerbhay also addressed members on World Elders Day (June 15, 2016), pap smears and cancer screening, which was held in November 2016, World Diabetes Day on November 14, 2016 and health hints on November 23, 2016.

Members were timeously informed by Mrs Peerbhay of any programme relating to their health.

Members are also thankful to Sheryl Lane and Debbie Potgieter of Shepstone Place Home for the Aged for their inspiring presentation on Alzheimer’s Disease on September 26, 2016.

Members of the public who need more information on some of the above may contact Mrs Peerbhay at the club meetings, which are held on Wednesdays between 12pm and 3pm at the Forderville Primary School Hall.
