Editor – I write to you with great disappointment towards our municipality in failing to keep our town clean.
As you drive around town, you see long grass and long reeds growing everywhere.
You have published numerous stories from people complaining about the same thing, and none of the places that were mentioned in all the stories have been attended to.
This is such a disgrace, as outsiders think of Ladysmith as a dirty and filthy town.
Our municipal officials seem to have turned their backs on us ratepayers and people of Ladysmith in general.
Long grass and reeds, as mentioned in some of your stories, are actually a threat to people near them, as they attract unwanted animals and criminal activities.
This whole issue reeks of incompetence from our municipality. In some streets, you can barely see road signs, as the grass and reeds cover them up. Criminals now have a place to hide when waiting for passersby to attack and rob of their belongings.
The municipality seriously needs to do something and quick, and not wait for more of these ordeals for them to realise the seriousness of this issue.
