Another summer has come and gone, winter finally upon us: What have you done?

While a handful are thankful for the bit of rain, there are several people who are complaining about the bitter cold.

Madam – Another summer has come and gone, with winter finally upon us and I am fascinated by how people are reacting to the past few cold days.

While a handful are thankful for the bit of rain, there are several people who are complaining about the bitter cold.

Guess what? You have the opportunity to sleep in a warm bed and enjoy a hot meal, followed by a nice cup of tea or coffee.

There are people who live on the streets, enduring their lives in silence. There are children who live in children homes, which might have heaters and blankets, but lack the warmth of a family.

People are often quick to do a good deed here and there, weather permitting, but it is in times when their help is really needed that there is a sullen silence.

“But it is cold and I don’t want to get wet.” This is a phrase I have heard and I am sure you have as well.

The thing is, children living in places of safety did not ask to be left in some shelter. The destitute did not plan to live on the streets when they were growing up.

We as a community have to start caring about others and stop focusing solely on ourselves. The question is, what are you going to do this winter? Are you going to hide behind a heater under the cover of a blanket and dream of summer, or are you going to warm the heart of a stranger?
