Editor – This is a topic that has been discussed at length before, but I feel it warrants further attention.
I am talking about the lack of entertainment in this town.
Now I can hear some of you yawning at the mere mention of there being nothing to do in Ladysmith, but are you bored too and simply fed up with trying to do something about it?
Looking back, we have had lots of “stuff” in our town.
Cinemas (back in the old days and the one at the bottom of the Murchison Mall which was pretty small), a drive-in, a Milky Lane, the so-called Pool Pavilion (first in Keate Street and then upstairs at the top end of Murchison Street) and list goes on.
Really? you may ask. Anyway, my point is that entertainment is possible in Ladysmith. It just seems that people have lost the belief that it is an option for not just the youth but also the adults of our town. That’s really sad!
On a tongue-in-cheek note, when last did you even see an adult entertainment ad in the newspaper. Don’t the lonely guys want to get “jiggy” with a hot little mama who’s prepared to play if you pay? Enough of the jokes, but you get my point, I’m sure!
So what’s to be done about the present mournful situation in little old Emnambithi?
Does anyone have any solutions or some big capital to open up proper cinemas and a decent, up-market nightclub for patrons to enjoy responsibly? Write in and let me know!
