I refer to the letter ‘Don’t discredit Estcourt police’ published on May 19.
READ THE LETTER HERE: Don’t discredit Estcourt police
‘Grateful 30-year-old Resident’, please get your facts straight before you write to the newspaper.
Where did you read that ‘Mr 60-year-old’ mentioned in his letter to the editor on April 14 that traffic fines are issued by the Estcourt detectives? If you cannot read, then how are you going to do detective work?
READ THE LETTER HERE: Get together to fight criminals in town
Yes, it’s quite clear that the letter was penned by someone from the detective branch, mainly getting at the seasoned detective who has relocated from Estcourt. Some of the criteria required to become a detective is you got to have a top matric pass, be witty with a high IQ and not be corrupt and deceitful.
You go on to say that reports by the South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson about perpetrators being apprehended almost immediately in other towns is hearsay. Oh really, is that so?
So what you are actually saying is that when we read Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane’s report in the newspaper, it’s nonsense?
You want facts to support the writer’s allegations.
You must be an idiot to not understand that none of the 20 murders in Forderville have been solved or that the local community were looking after our central business district during the Christmas period.

So you see ‘Mr 30-year-old’, wisdom comes with age. You still have a lot to learn (from ’60-year-old’). When the detective who relocated from Estcourt wrote about the detectives being too complacent and haphazard in their work, you wrote that he is not following protocol.
Looks like you are condoning laziness.
I wonder what Lt Col Zwane would have to say about all his reports to the media being hearsay? Now, Mr Detective, is saying something like that following police protocol? There is no need to be envious of other top detectives who made their mark and are going places.
Befriend them and you shall learn a lot from them. It’s no use being jealous of other’s achievements.
