Administrator will take Estcourt forward

We may begin to see the wheels of service delivery turning; we may begin to see our town flourish under new leadership because our current leadership obviously can't handle the job

It comes as no surprise that Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality has been placed under administration. This municipality was heading in that direction for a very long time. Since the new council was elected, we have seen nothing positive happen in our town of Estcourt.

Our town is deteriorating fast, with the neglect in some instances being too much to repair now. If we look around us, our town is literally crumbling and no one seems to notice or even care.

Shouldn’t the council and office bearers be looking out for the interests of this town? Shouldn’t they be trying to drive economic growth by providing sustainable service delivery?

They should, yes…but have they?

I wonder how many members of the public even know who the Mayor, Deputy Mayor or Speaker is. Have they ever formally introduced themselves to the community that pays their salaries?

Maybe the community’s concerns don’t matter but don’t forget that we are rate paying citizens who fund your lavish lifestyles.

We hear so many complaints from the public about the lack of service delivery, concerns about the maladministration at the local municipality and also the fact that jobs are given to friends or card carrying members.

We often hear that the municipality is bankrupt and can’t afford to pay service providers or even deliver basic services, how did we get to this space? How did the municipal management allow our coffers to go empty? For now an Administrator is the best answer for our little town.

An Administrator, I feel, can only take this backward town forward. We look forward to meeting him/her.
