Editor – With reference to your article ‘Unhappy with the state of the town’s main street’ in last week’s paper.
I specifically refer to the comments of Alfred Duma Local Municipality, ie “The municipality currently has not enough budget to do the full road maintenance.”
I would like to know why it is always possible to find money to purchase smart flashy cars while there is no money to attend to necessaries that affect ratepayers on the whole.
Two smart cars have just been purchased at extremely high cost, apparently for the speaker and mayor.
Hopefully this is not in contradiction to the report of the auditor-general.
