May I through the medium of our local newspaper also air my views about the current state of the town?
I am in full agreement with the opinions of Angela Keyter, Ansje du Plessis and Concerned Resident who spoke about several challenges that we are facing in Estcourt.

All of you have brought up pertinent issues that HAVE to be discussed and solutions found. Every single person in this town has a role to play to keep it clean and tidy.
That means even the motorist in his/her car who carelessly tosses out a sweet wrapper or the contractor who has come to town to start up a new project. Often we do blame the municipality and rightly so because their attitude to neglect everything in town has become so obvious.
I guess it stands to reason that if we want positive results, they are probably the last ones who are going to want to be part of finding a solution within a reasonable time frame.
It is up to all residents, business owners and their staff as well as civil organisations to do what we can, where we can to improve our own lives and the lives of those around us. For example, if the management at the post office decides to use a more effective method of going about their daily routine as well as have someone check on the hygiene and cleanliness, this would be a much better place to visit.
If residents respect the rich history our town has and make it their duty to report to the officials any vandalism, maybe we would not have the burnt down Voortrekker monument.
Maybe someone would’ve rescued it before it got to this state. And maybe if we can all speak to our neighbours and advise them on the correct refuse removal days, then we might not have the problem of dogs tearing up rubbish bags.
There are lots of little things that we can all do in our own space to make life a little better, try it.
