It shows the group of ex-students from Estcourt Indian High School (now Drakensberg Secondary) who founded the Drakensberg Ex-Students Society (DESS).
From 1981 to 1995, the organisation assisted needy students to pursue tertiary studies, assisted local charities, local and international disasters, and local schools.
At the inaugural inception of the society, local legend and sportsman Roy Harrinarain was elected chairperson, Anil Sookraj as secretary and Navin Lalla as treasurer.
