Burnt End
Bowlers braved a seasonal chill at last Saturday’s monthly FedAuto meat competition.
Winners of the generous main prize of the meat was the team of Fritz Botha, Frans Schoon, Graham Massey and Annette Fourie, while the second-placed chicken winners were Des Thompson, Michelle Steele, Simon Ball and Johan Coetzee.
The inaugural Specsavers Pro 10 District Pairs playoffs were held in Richards Bay last weekend.
A total of 24 teams who had earlier qualified from their clubs, made up the field that was divided into four sections, and the following teams qualified for Sunday’s finals after the sectional play was rounded off: S White and L Coetzee (Empangeni BC), A Vivier and L Oosthuizen (Harrismith), B Mutlow and R Greef (Richards Bay), J Cross and N Malan (Vryheid).
The final four then played in a round robin format to decide the winners. It was ultimately the Harrismith team of Andre and Liefie who won all three of their games to become the first winners of the Specsavers KZNCB Pro 10 Pairs competition. The Richards Bay couple of Barry and Ronel finished in second place.
Both the above-mentioned teams will travel to Port Elizabeth to compete in the national playoffs in September.
