Stella taste victory

Despite facing defeat in recent matches, Stella redeemed itself after crushing Sporting on Sunday afternoon.

Sporting had opened the heated match with a goal, leading spectators to believe the game would once again see Stella facing a heart-rendering defeat.

This was not to be. Stella scored an equaliser 25 minutes into the game. Stella showed determination would not leave the team dwelling in the dust.

At the end of the first half, the score was two all and both teams knew that victory could go either way if there was no team work.

Focusing on the win, Stella secured a win of six – two over Sporting.

Spartans then took on Amahlubi, in what was also a heated game.

Despite both teams going all out, pushing each other to the maximum, it was Amahlubi who secured a win of five-three over Spartans.

Through the victory over Spartans, Amahlubi moved to the top of the Newcastle Social Soccer League (NSSL) log.

Newcastle Legends team yet again showed that age was no factor when it came to soccer.

With the team consisting of players of 50 years of age and over, Newcastle Legend faced Fairleigh United.

While losing three-one to Fairleigh United, Newcastle Legends kept the younger team fighting for victory and proved to be no pushovers.
