Racing couple speed to the finish line

Faizel was determined to win in his Golf 6 R. Despite finishing the race in a staggering 12.1 seconds, victory was not on the cards, but, he managed to take second place.

Dynamic husband and wife duo, Faizel and Razia Cassim, recently took part in Tuner Wars on the Tarlton International Raceway in Johannesburg.

Approximately 60 racers took part in the event, and the drag-racing couple were eager to make their mark.

Faizel was determined to win in his Golf 6 R. Despite finishing the race in a staggering 12.1 seconds, victory was not on the cards, but, he managed to take second place.

“I’m not disappointed, but if we had been better prepared, I would have taken first place,” Faizel claimed.

Razia’s turn on the race track did not go as well as she had hoped.

Although she finished the race with a time of 12.7 in her Scirroco, Razia said a plug point had broken and damaged her car’s valve during the race.

“When it happened, I put my car in neutral and finished the race. I was disappointed until I heard my time. I was still the fastest woman at the event.”

Faizel said while the racing did not go according to plan, it was an enjoyable.

“It was very nice, the atmosphere was great and the track was very different from the other tracks we have competed on. There also were a lot of super cars, such as Porsches and Ferraris, and only one Porsche managed to beat our time,” Faizel said.
