Vryheid Cricket Club – Gladiators feel the sting as Wasps take the win
Wessel Vorster carried his bat scoring 56 not out, Wikus Janse van Rensburg was the next best batsman scoring 23.
TWO Kingsmead Mynah’s Trophy 30 Over league games were played over the last weekend.
On Saturday Wicket Wasps played Gladiators at Cecil Emmett. Wicket Wasps won the toss and batted first. They scored 216 all out in 28 overs, with Tiaan Naudè (85) and Rudolf Scholtz (42) contributing to the innings. Best bowling for the Gladiators came from Thomas Bezuidenhout (4-1-27-3) and Juan Swanepoel (4-0-27-2).
In the Gladiators’ innings they were bowled out for 137 in the 29th over. Wessel Vorster carried his bat scoring 56 not out, Wikus Janse van Rensburg was the next best batsman scoring 23. The pick of the bowlers for Wicket Wasps were Connor High (5-2-7-3) and Mornè Gevers (5-0-26-3). Wicket Wasps won the game by 79 runs.
On Sunday Mr X traveled to take on Dumbe. Dumbe batted first and scored 173/7 in the 30 overs with Leon Solms top scoring with 41. Clifford Dougherty took 2 wickets for 13 runs in his bowling spell for Mr X. Good bowling from Dumbe with Charl Beneke claiming 4 wickets for 30 runs restricted Mr X to 159 all out. David Sandalls scored a defiant 70 for Mr X. Dumbe won by 14 runs.
