Kilian Academy – Grappling with one of the greats
The purpose of the camp was to expose students to the latest developments in the art. In addition, the camp gives students three days to prepare for 2016.
COACH Jurgen Putter, head of Rio Grappling South Africa, and Extreme Fighting Championship coach recently visited Kilian Academy and instructed students in BJJ.
Rio Grappling South Africa is the largest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu group in the country and Putter is a black belt in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Putter, who has been studying BJJ for the past 14 years, was invited to instruct Kilian Academy students at this year’s BJJ immersion camp hosted by the Academy.
The purpose of the camp was to expose students to the latest developments in the art. In addition, the camp gives students three days to prepare for 2016.
“Kilian Academy students are on par with their international counter parts and have shown good growth in the short period since the Academy’s establishment in 2013.” stated Putter. “I am excited to work closer with students at the Academy to enhance their growth and experience within the art of BJJ.”
Abrie Kilian, head coach at Kilian Academy stated that it is both an honour and privilege to receive instruction from a legitimate BJJ black belt such as Jurgen Putter.
“Putter is one of only twelve BJJ black belts in South Africa and probably one of the best,” added Kilian.
Wrestling legend, Morné Lindeque, wrestling coach as well as a BJJ student at the Academy also attended and mentioned that the camp rekindled his passion for martial arts.
