Bad weather does not dampen anglers’ spirits

MEMBERS of the Social Boat Angling Forum headed off to Jozini Dam on September 21, looking forward to what they hoped would be a great three days of fishing at the annual Tiger Fish Bonanza.
With a main prize valued at R250 000, the Tiger Fish Bonanza draws freshwater fishing fanatics from far and wide, and is reputed to be one of South Africa’s biggest and most anticipated events on the angling calender.
Unfortunately, heavy rain and gusty conditions made fishing difficult. Even though many endured the sporadic downpours and blustery wind, not many fish were caught.
“One day the weather was rainy and the next day the wind blew, which was not conducive to fishing, but we tried our best. We didn’t win any prizes but everyone had a good time. The organisers put a large military tent up in the middle of the camp and we enjoyed socialising with the other fishermen,” said Robbie Price who spoke on behalf of the Social Boat Angling Forum.
“We look forward to the Tiger Fish Bonanza every year and we have already booked our place for next year’s competition. We hope the fishing will be better next year,” concluded Mr Price.
