Dundee league golfers on losing end

Saturday’s I.P.S. club competition saw an easy winner in Lorien de Wit after scoring 41 individual points to beat second placed Kallie Roets by three points.

On Sunday, the Dundee Country Club’s ‘A’ league team travelled to Vryheid for only their second league game of the season. Playing against a strong Vryheid team on their home course was always going to be tough, and unfortunately, this was shown by the final result, a 2-10 defeat with only Pierre Booysen winning his singles match 2/1 to avoid an embarrassing whitewash.
The ‘B2’ league team came up against a rejuvenated Glencoe team at Kilbarchan G.C. and were 1/3 down after the morning foursomes and needed at least two victories in the singles games to avoid defeat. After Leon Wellman thrashed his opponent 6/5, Dundee needed either Kevin Donaldson or Barry Sandy to win their games, however, Barry was beaten on the last hole and Kevin held on to finish his game all square which saw the Dundee team lose the match 4-8.
