Highlanders suffer loss to MUT in KZN League game
The Newcastle Boschpick Highlanders suffered a devastating 24-31 loss to the Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) Durban side in a Findley Cup KZN league game played last Saturday (August 3) at the Arbor Park Sports Ground

Play was tight but MUT started the game well and built up a commanding 24-0 lead. Highlanders showed their indomitable spirit by making a strong comeback.
“If one or two passes had stuck, Highlanders could have won the game,” commented head coach, Andre Swanepoel.
MUT defended well to keep the Highlanders at bay. In the end, Highlanders came up seven points short from progressing to the next round of the league and travelling 1350 km to Maclear (in the Eastern Cape) as Maclear plays in the Southern KZN league.
Swanepoel made a special mention of the players who stood out during the match.
These were Wynand Kritzenger (7), Sena (2), and Nipho (11) who made the MUT side scramble to prevent him from scoring a try.
The following players scored points in the match:
Tries: Nipho (11) -1
Lindani (13) – 1
Tevin (8) – 1
Sena (2)1)
Jean kicked two conversions.
The Highlanders 1, 2, 3, and 4 had a very successful season, with all teams performing well.
Highlanders 1, 2, and 3 ended the log in the Puma Premier League, while the third and fourth teams played in the NKZN League Final, which was won by the third team.
