Local swimmers cause a splash at annual Aquathon

The Swim Studio participated for the 9th time this year and great fun was had by all.

Swim Studio hosted its annual Aquathon on Saturday, November 9.

Guests enjoyed a three-hour session of water-based exercise in the heated pool to raise awareness of breast cancer.

The National Anthem was sung at the beginning of every 4 x 45 min sessions and plenty of watermelon, bananas, grapes, strawberries and cherries sustained the participants. Traditionally, everyone that accidentally touched the floating duck had to shout something positive before throwing the duck in the air. As water is too heavy for growing bodies, Aquacise is only for adults. This year the age range was from 21 to 77 that participated and well done everyone on completing the 3 hours.

Afterwards participants enjoyed their pre-ordered lunch of choice, tastefully prepared by the EspreSSo Tea Garden of the Swim Studio who also sponsored Camille’s healthy Green Salad as a promotion.

Special thanks to Thirsti for sponsoring the water as usual, Reshma of TRIVS, Scammony CC and Nikhil Sookraj & Priânca Ramouthar for their generous donations. A big thank you also to Construction and Cutting Machines, Mugg & Bean, Coastal Hire, Zero Tolerance Fire CC, AM Corrosion Control, Salon Eden, Studio Elle, Leimecke Nails, Soma Wellness Centre and others for all the attendance prizes.

Swim Studio is awaiting nominations of a worthy beneficiary who is challenged with any form of cancer, maybe someone without medical aid, to donate the R5000 that was collected this year. Previous beneficiaries since 2016 were: CANSA, St Martin’s Children’s Home, the SPCA, Esperanza Special Needs School, La Gratitude, Arbor Park Primary’s Soup Kitchen, Little Goslings Special Needs School and Helpende Hand. Kindly email your nominations to admin@swimstudio.co.za or call 071 683 2285.
