Jaydene fights to the top

NKZN karateka earned a total of 18 medals at the event.

Even on a national level, local karateka are examples for others to follow.

Following the South African Japan Karate Association (JKA) team event in Johannesburg two weeks ago, Newcastle’s Jaydene Naidoo earned herself a number of awards.

She received two medals, a gold for kumite (fighting) and silver for kata (stance).

Jaydene was one of 25 karateka from Northern KwaZulu-Natal, who competed alongside karateka from both South Africa and beyond borders, such as Mozambique and Botswana.

The NKZN team earned a total medal haul of 18.
