Training the cricket stars of tomorrow
The three-day Ladysmith clinic saw boys from various primary schools attending to hone their cricket skills
The Cricket School of Excellence (CSE) held a coaching clinic at Egerton’s Agar Field from Friday to Sunday.
The clinic was headed up by KZN head coach Naveen Ramnarain, who has a Level 3 coaching qualification. Naveen says he wants to take these clinics to every town in the province so that the CSE can provide coaching to all the youngsters out there. They also offer different coaching programmes such as follow-ups and master classes.
The launch of the CSE took place in Pietemaritzburg at Merchiston Prep School. The launch was a huge success and the intention of the programme is to make inroads into the province with its cricket coaching.
The three-day Ladysmith clinic saw boys from various primary schools attending to hone their cricket skills by working hand in hand with coach Naveen. Coach Naveen also worked with teachers and parents so that they can help the children with their coaching in the future.
Coach Naveen has been coaching for over 30 years and truly has a passion for it. He works with players from premier league teams and is the bowling consultant for Chatsworth United. He is also part of the Dolphins umpires panel and has been ‘Umpire of the Year’ for the last two seasons.
Naveen is also a talent scout for the Dolphins. Through the CSE, he would like to turn cricket players into “the complete cricketer” in all formats of the game. The coaching clinic that was held in town was a huge success for those who attended, with awards being presented for the best batsmen and bowlers, and also for the most improved players over the three days.
