A great week for Barbara

It really was Barbara Baleri's week - congratulations on winning both the Cherry Festival and then your Prelim Masters as well

Congratulations to Jill Atkinson (Bergville Bowling Club); Barbara and Oscar Baleri; and Lorraine Kirsten (Klipbank Bowling Club) for winning the Ficksburg ‘Cherry Festival’.

They won nine games and peeled one to achieve a total of 47 out of a possible 52 points – a clean sweep and runaway winners by 11 points from the closest opposition team. Well bowled to you all! It really was Barbara Baleri’s week – congratulations on winning both the Cherry Festival and then your Prelim Masters as well. Now we will have to hold thumbs for you in the Masters Championships next year – we know you can do it!

The other section was won by Sylvia Malan of Dundee and in the men’s sections, newcomers to our district Brendan van Vreden of Piet Retief and Tony de Pooter of Volksrust showed their steel in winning their sections. Congratulations to them on their achievement and good luck in the Masters.

Friday is party night, when the presentation of the year’s prizes takes place and everyone enjoys the Christmas dinner. Here’s looking forward to having a ball! This event starts at 6.30pm and if your name is not on the list, Janet will be very disappointed that you won’t enjoy her lovely food – so do make sure you are there.

The Open Trips sponsored tournament kicks off the festive season on Sunday. Do be sure you have entered, as Shenaaz says the entry closes on Friday evening. Again, this is something you should not miss, as you will have great fun!

Wednesday sees the Sarel’s Workshop Business League teams giving it their all for the big prizes. They haven’t got an easy game to play at the top, but they will all be trying their best, believe it! This has been a lovely league, with everyone really enjoying their evenings in the open air and spending time away from work with their colleagues. Sarel’s are to be congratulated on this wonderful sponsorship.

Birthdays are not to be forgotten, and we say have a happy and healthy year ahead to: Paddy Barnardo, Terry Crane, Antoinette Grobler, Trevor Kirsten and Louis Potgieter. One rose among the thorns!
