
Burnt End
The final of the men’s club drawn pairs was played last Saturday.
In the encounter between Stephen Shaw/Bert Rodgers and Billy Nicholas/Billy Villiers, Stephen and Bert scored a three on the first end and the two Billys later scored on three consecutive ends.
However, a six to Stephen and Bert on the ninth end effectively sealed the game and saw them run out the winners.
Rain unfortunately put paid to the finals of the spring FedAuto Business League last Thursday evening and prizes were awarded according to the final log positions.
Putt Putts were declared the winners (12 + 80) followed by The Hobos (12 + 65).
The others making up the top five included Dozy Dudes (12 + 52), Sparkies (12 + 32) and Eschem, while Aircats won the prize for propping up the logs from the bottom.
The Meerkatte was the most spirited team of the tournament.
FedAuto is once again thanked for the generous sponsorship of the weekly meat prizes – many thanks Allan and Tillie.
The local Nomads Club hosted a social last Sunday.
Prizes were awarded to Douglas Steele (skips), Joan Schoon (thirds), Shaun Rheeder (seconds – visitor) and Marie Botha (leads), with the tiekie end won by Monty Steele.
Members are reminded of the monthly FedAuto meat social on December 7 and International Day on December 8.
The committee wishes to thank all members for their donations toward the International Day, which once again promises to be a fun filled day between teams England, Scotland, South Africa and the Barbarians.
