Early start for rugby season

Matches confirmed for 2014 include a friendly against Durban's Jaguars.

Boschpick Newcastle Highlanders will begin preparations for the 2014 season early in the new year.

The first practice of the year will take place from 6pm at Arbor Park Sport Grounds on January 6, and every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from there onwards.

Confirmed friendlies for 2014 will be against Durban Jaguars, JBM Hertzog u/21 and UOVS (Bloemfontein).

Highlanders will also be in action at both the Piet Retief and Newcastle Rugby Days, with the possibility of attending a Sevens tournament in March also on the cards.

The team might also compete at a 10s tourney in March.

“It is going to be a busy pre-season for Highlanders,” said head coach, Andre Swanepoel.
