Karatekas get awards
The club had a 96% pass-rate at the gradings, with most karatekas progressing to the next belt
The Ladysmith Budo Ryu Karate Club held its awards function on Thursday evening at the Civic Hall.
New additions to black belt are Tanisha Behari, Aradhana Ramruka, Gerisha Janki, Grahesh Pillay and Tafseer Khan. The club had a 96% pass-rate at the gradings, with most karatekas progressing to the next belt.
During the National South African Budo Ryu Tournament held in Ladysmith, the club took 58 medals and even the Floating Trophy.
The Ladysmith Budo Ryu Karate Club has been running since 1972. Sensei Ashok Ramphal commented that, “The club has produced many senior and junior black belts over the years, and is one of the largest clubs in the region.”
Training takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Civic Hall from 5pm to 7pm. All juniors and seniors are welcome to join, and can contact Sensei Ashok on 083-642-9766.
