Uthukela’s SALGA glory

uThukela District Municipality came out victorious in the ladies’ soccer and table tennis taking home two trophies

SALGA KZN Games has become an integral part of the sporting calendar in KwaZulu-Natal over the years.

It will be recalled that Uthukela District Municipality hosted these games last year and it offered a high profit margin to most business people.

This year saw Harry Gwala District Municipality enjoying the traffic of over 6 000 people, which includes mayors, councillors, athletes and officials from ten district municipalities.

The SALGA KZN Games were held from December 6 to 9 in Kokstad.

uThukela District Municipality came out victorious in the ladies’ soccer and table tennis taking home two trophies (gold).

Feeling that was not enough, uThukela players also decided to take silver in cricket, bronze in males’ rugby and another bronze in females’ basketball.

Considering the fact that the games took place away from home, these results are much improved compared to previous years’. Although the District Mayor, Cllr DCP Mazibuko had other commitments and couldn’t attend the games, she was over the moon on hearing the news about the district’s victory.

She conveyed her message of appreciation to parents for allowing children to participate in these games.
