Bulldogs aim to improve their bite

Training sessions will be held every Tuesday and Thursday evening at Settlers Sports Complex at 6pm

It’s that time of year again where training for the season is underway.

Firstly, we would like to wish all our sponsors, supporters and players all the best for 2014, and thank them for all the support during 2013. A new committee was recently elected, namely: Flippie Fourie – chairperson; Marx Zaayman – vice-chairperson; Terry Oelefson – treasurer; Keith van Rooyen – secretary; Christo Kruger – head coach; Breytie Buitendag – assistant coach; Vivian Bidolph – assistant coach; Dr Andre Beukes – assistant coach; Isak Boshoff – PRO; and Hennie Muller – head grounds-man. We would like to thank the committee for making themselves available for the season and know they will give of their best. Thank you to Babs Naidoo who is prepared to look after the field for us and get it up to standard so that the players can be proud of playing on a field that has been well looked after. We would also like to thank the Ladysmith Gazette for their willingness and support that has been shown so far.

On this note, we would like to invite all players, old and new, to attend the pre-season practices. The first official training session was held on Thursday, January 9. Head coach Christo Kruger has big plans for this year, such as the Eshowe Tournament and warm-up games before the league starts. Having said this, the club will not be able to function without its players and he urges the players to attend the training sessions. Training sessions will be held every Tuesday and Thursday evening at Settlers Sports Complex at 6pm.

We would also like to urge the community of Ladysmith to back the Bulldogs this year, as the Ladysmith Bulldogs Committee and the players would like to get the standard of rugby back to where it was a few years ago. To accomplish this, they are going to need all the support they can get, be it in donations, sponsorships or even support on match day.

For more information, or if you feel you can contribute towards the club, please feel free to contact Christo Kruger on 083-652-7963, Flippie Fourie on 073-199-5582 or Keith van Rooyen on 082-751-3353.
