Bowls heavyweights cash in

Bowlers say the competitive season begins from this weekend.

Burnt End

The first club meat competition of the year was played last Saturday afternoon.

Prizes were won by Trevor Douthwaite, Joe Cowan, Simon Ball and Esme Moore – a great start to Esme’s bowling career!

Playing in a tournament in Tweespruit (OFS) last weekend, Douglas, Monty and Michelle Steele and Lindsay McArthur did exceptionally well, winning five of their six games to finish a creditable third – well done guys!

The competitive bowling season gets under way this weekend.

Volksrust Bowling Club will host both the play-offs of the KwaZulu-Natal Country Bowls singles and the senior singles competition, where winners and runners up of the Zululand, Midlands and Northerns zones will each play against each other in a round robin format to determine the regional winner.

Good bowls should be witnessed and a short trip to Volksrust to support the Northerns’ bowlers will no doubt be well received.
