Country bowlers find their bias
Three zones competed to determine the overall District Champions.

The KwaZulu-Natal Country Bowls District singles playoffs were held at Volksrust Bowling Club last weekend.
In this competition, winners and runners-up of the open and senior singles from Zululand, Midlands and Northerns zones all play each other to determine the overall District Champions.
All sections were closely competed with no player winning all five of their games.
Ida Oosthuisen of Harrismith (8 + 31) won the ladies’ open title with Ronel Greef of Richards Bay (6 + 12) in second place, while the senior singles title went to Anita Scott of Richards Bay (8 + 12), followed by Veronica Malan of Klipbank (6 + 6).
The men’s open event was won by Braam van Zyl (8 + 43), giving Harrismith a double with both open titles.
Dion Leiaty of Richards Bay (8 + 30) finished a close second having beaten Braam earlier, but ultimately lost on a count out, and Barry Mutlow of Richards Bay continued his good singles form to win the seniors title (8 + 22).
Newcastle’s Sid Price was second (6 + 25).
Volksrust Bowling Club is complimented on the condition of the greens and their members’ excellent hospitality throughout.
The KZNCB Masters Singles Championships will be played at Newcastle Bowling Club this weekend.
A total of 12 male and female bowlers from the district will compete for these coveted titles, and Newcastle Club members are urged to assist with marking and ensuring smooth running of the tournament.
Notices for a number of district and club competitions are on the notice board – members are requested to take note and enter before the closing dates.
